MCP Hackathon
1st Place
Teamed up with Connor Flint to win first place at the MCP Hackathon, hosted by Drive Capital and LiquidMetal AI. Built "SwimSmart", a website that pulls live sensor data from Chicago's public data portal to show beach closures and conditions in map and list views. The project aimed to augment the city's manually-updated, error-prone system with a cleaner, faster, and more accessible resource for swimmers and beach-goers. We identified real user complaints on Reddit and used Astro for the frontend with OpenStreetMap for visualization, building a working prototype in just a few hours.

Volunteer Mentor & Judge
Volunteered as a mentor and project judge at WildHacks, Northwestern University's premier hackathon. Guided students as they transformed ideas into working prototypes in approximately 24 hours. Evaluated numerous innovative projects across various categories, providing technical guidance and feedback to help teams overcome challenges. This experience allowed me to pay forward the impact hackathons had on my own journey, witnessing students' "aha!" moments and helping them realize their potential to build meaningful solutions.

My team and I submitted our project "Marketmon", a turn-based trading card game that allowed users to battle creatures based on S&P 500 companies. We utilized SvelteKit, TailwindCSS, and the Claude API to create a dynamic web-based game that combined finance and gaming in a unique and engaging way.

3rd Place - Fidelity Challenge
A team of me and three other Iowa State Students made the eleven-hour drive to Dallas, Texas to participate in HackUTD X. We developed "FinTeach", a multi-platform application that aims to help students from all backgrounds learn about personal finance, particularly those from underfunded schools that may lack the resources to teach financial literacy. We leveraged Flutter to create a dynamic and fun mobile app that allows users to learn about personal finance through an interactive, level-based game.

At HackIowaState v2, my team and I developed "Agrepair", a web application that connects equipment owners with skilled contractors, making it easier to schedule and manage repair services. We leveraged modern technologies like NextJS, TailwindCSS, Supabase, and Vercel to create a dynamic platform that streamlined the process of finding contractors. This experience allowed us to hone our web development skills and learn new technologies, while also fostering teamwork and collaboration.

Best Insurance Hack
At HackUIowa, my team and I developed "InsuriQuest," an app aimed at simplifying insurance education for all ages. Our innovative approach won us the "Best Insurance Hack" award. This experience honed our app development skills and provided valuable interactions with industry leaders. A highlight was our unique "decision tree generation" system, which dynamically created user stories, optimizing the use of LLM requests.

Rocky Mountain Investment Challenge

I participated in the Rocky Mountain Investment Challenge, an exciting competition where undergraduate students present investment pitches to industry judges. Our team selected Fulgent Genetics and conducted comprehensive research and valuation using various methods, such as DCF analysis, comparable company analysis and precedent transaction analysis. We achieved 3rd place and gained valuable experience in analyzing real-world firms, honing our presentation skills, and connecting with professionals in the financial industry. It was a rewarding opportunity to apply our investment expertise and learn from esteemed judges.

IMC Trading Prosperity Competition

I had the opportunity to participate in "Prosperity," IMC Trading's global trading competition. Over the course of 10 days, teams were tasked with leveraging their python skills, strategic insights, and analytics to trade on a virtual market and strive for prosperity for their assigned island. It was an excellent platform for honing my quantitative trading and analysis abilities, and allowed me to put my skills to the test in a dynamic and competitive environment.

CFA Research Challenge (Iowa)

My team achieved first place in the 2023 CFA Institute Research Challenge for the state of Iowa. The Research Challenge is an esteemed competition that brings together university students and investment professionals from the CFA Society network. It offers valuable hands-on mentoring, intensive training in financial analysis and ethics, and evaluates participants' analytical, valuation, report writing, and presentation skills. With guidance from our society members, faculty advisor, and industry mentor, we conducted thorough research and analysis, including public comparables and a discounted cash flow (DCF) with sensitivity testing, to value the assigned company (Sun Country Airlines, $SNCY).

My team achieved second place in the Iowa State University Hackathon. Our project, "dungeon_ai," aimed to enhance accessibility to Dungeons & Dragons-style games by eliminating the need for an experienced Dungeon Master. Through collaborative teamwork, we developed a full-stack web application that allowed users to create characters, allocate skill points, and embark on exciting adventures filled with treasure, monsters, and exploration. The project utilized AI technologies for generating the virtual Dungeon Master, storyline, and images for environments and player characters. This fast-paced development experience not only showcased our technical skills but also fostered personal growth and teamwork.

My team achieved third place in the Iowa State University CSE Club Programming Contest. The contest revolved around solving programming puzzles on Kattis within a three-hour time constraint. It tested our problem-solving abilities, algorithmic thinking, and coding skills under pressure. Despite the challenging environment, our team demonstrated resilience and teamwork to secure the third-place position.
